Natural Enemies and Pest Control in Field-Grown Crop in Southern Senegal

چکیده

Crop pests are a permanent threat to horticultural production. Several control methods recommended for their control, including biological control. This method based on the use of natural enemies is not well established. The objective this study was assess diversity and abundance crop pests. A survey crops associated with carried out 144 fields in southern Senegal measure various pests, determine native parasitoid complex parasitism rates. Ecological indices were calculated enemies. total 25 enemy species identified, 15 parasitoids 10 predators. Predatory Hemiptera Parasitoid Hymenoptera high biodiversity. rates vary between 0 50% depending species. Knowledge understanding trophic interactions important development protection order preserve resilience agroecosystems.

Theoretical Study of Pest Control Using Stage Structured Natural Enemies with Maturation Delay: A Crop-Pest-Natural Enemy Model

In the natural world, there are many insect species whose individual members have a life history that takes them through two stages, immature and mature. Moreover, the rates of survival, development, and reproduction almost always depend on age, size, or development stage. Keeping this in mind, in this paper, a three species crop-pest-natural enemy food chain model with two stages for natural e...

Manipulation of Natural Enemies in Agroecosystems: Habitat and Semiochemicals for Sustainable Insect Pest Control

Plants are not capable of running away from their enemies, i.e., the herbivores that may eat them. However, under certain circumstances, plants can rely on the natural enemies of insect herbivores for protection. These natural enemies include other insects that are predators and parasitoids. To help protect plants from damage caused by insect herbivores, practical methods have been developed an...

Bistability induced by generalist natural enemies can reverse pest invasions.

Analytical modeling of predator-prey systems has shown that specialist natural enemies can slow, stop and even reverse pest invasions, assuming that the prey population displays a strong Allee effect in its growth. We aimed to formalize the conditions in which spatial biological control can be achieved by generalists, through an analytical approach based on reaction-diffusion equations. Using c...

Natural enemies of Ostrinia nubilalis (Hubner) and papulation density of pest and its dominant natural enemy on four corn hybrids in Moghan region

The European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner), is an important insect pest of corn, Zea mays L., crop in Moghan region. In field experiments, the density of eggs and larvae of O.nubilalis and percentage of eggs and larvae parasitisms were studied on four corn hybrids NS704 (commercial cultivar), NS770, NS640 and MV524 (cultivars with high yield). Furthermore, i...
